I always say I'm going to take pics of my progress on the guitars I build,,,,but alas,,,never do,,,so,, ths time I'm going to TRY! This will be a 10 string, what I cal my traditional design. I was thinking it might be maple and purple heart, but decided to do maple and dark walnut.
This is the walnut top with the fretboard extracted in order to inlay frets, markers and binding
Frets, markers and binding installed

Hey Bill,,thanks man,,I appreciate that piece of advise!,,,,guess I've built about 20-25 of these guitars,,,sold them all over the world. I bet you'd be shocked to see what I use to accomplish the results I have,,,,LOL! A "craftsman" told me one time that the tools used are not nearly as important as the skill in using what tools you have,,,,and I have to confess,,,I do have very minimal equipment. |

It's called a psychological crutch,,,,LOL!!! As long as I'm limited to minimal equipment,,,I have a "feeble" excuse for not doing the outstanding work that Tom does,,,(if Tom tells us that HE has minimal equipment,,,I'm dead!!!,,,LOL)
Honestly,,,,Tom sets the bar for all of us,,,and I have to say,,,if there are those who have not seen Ross Shafer's work,,,you're missing a REAL treat! The forum has the privilege of having some outstanding craftsman,,,!!!! |

No Jeff,,,this one won't be it.
The guitar that Carson Wells built for Tom Morrel had a changer mechanism, although Tom never used it,,,and it was a depth that wouldn't be compatible to "lap" playing. I'm trying to think of a way to modify it to make a thinner instrument. |
