I use a round tip "bullet" bar, like the Dunlop 918 tonebar, but it fits my hand well - you may need a different size.

For six- and eight-string, I've been hooked on the old "Broz-o-phonic" bar for years. No longer marketed under that name (for obvious reasons), they are now known as "Latch Lake," the name of their manufacturer in Eagan, Minnesota. I have both and they are identical. Cheapest place to buy 'em that I've found is Elderly in Michigan.

I just discovered these last year. Chase tapered bar. I use it for lap, slide and dobro. It just feels so nice in your hand. I don't think they're made anymore, but a used one pops up now and again.

Very cool. I never used a tapered bar, and indeed they don't seem to be made anymore. yours looks quite nice.

thanks.

David, first I saw came in the case with a reso I acquired recently. It was sort of dinged and pitted, but I liked the feel immediately. I posted in the WTB section and was able to buy this nicer one from Alan Simon.

I like it lots better than the old Stevens or the 3/4" bullet bars I had been using. Just feels natural.

Maybe not for everybody or reso speed demons though.

after trying a large dunlop bullet(too heavy), then a stevens(was my favorite), then a pearse bullet(just could not grip it to suit me, kept falling out of my hands) today i got a shubb sp1 and waa laa it is perfect for me, perfect weight and smooth for going the strings and i can grip it for pull offs...

Cool! The choice of bar is so personal. I tried almost everything and still like the 918, but I got an old Nick Manoloff hard rubber/plastic bar in one of my steels, like you, and really like it too.

I think there's a tapered bar on eBay right now.

I have a couple tapered bars. I really like them for lap guitar, they are just more comfortable.
When you go console steel then a straight bar works out fine.

Thanks for all the replies. I probably will get the lighter Dunlop bar, as I have the heavy one now.
