CLAY BLAKER and THE COUNTRYPICKERS (+ Hall of fame award-winner steelguitarplayer KOOS BIEL)
====================================
Over the years, Clay Blaker has had many of his songs recorded by regional, national, and international country artists as GEORGE STRAIT , MARK CHESNUTT, TIM McGRAW, CLAY WALKER, LEANN RIMES, Ram Herrera and, most recently, DERYL DODD & the great BARBARA STREISAND.
With such an impressive list of credits, one is bound to be impressed with CLAY BLAKER.

Cool record! Great playing by Koos Biel and the boys! Produced by Koos' brother Jelle.
I was fortunate enough to have played with Clay for thirteen years. He taught me so much. And our annual trips to Europe were so memorable. I miss seeing all my friends in Germany and The Netherlands. _________________ Tommy Detamore

I made the German run with Clay Blaker and The Texas Honky Tonk Band, too. Mercedes with chauffeurs – Sho-Bud amps - seven course meals in family homes with a round of schnapps between each course, small traveling circus’ - huge cathedrals – beer festivals - each town it’s own brand of beer - show dates with expatriate jazz player Don Cherry and folks who knew more about country music than we did and had country records I'd never seen. The promoters were big friends and supporters of Jimmy Day and Buddy Emmons and would travel to the states and book Jimmy & Buddy on session dates probably paying healthy fees. Jimmy made a run, too – to much well deserved acclaim. Even with my less than moderate abilities – I felt like a star and with a name like Kramer - I was back home.
Texas was settled in part by German immigrants. So in addition to the great Texas people - food - landscape - gigs on top of gigs - excellent jazz based musicians (like Bucky Meadows - Randy Corner - Bert Rivera!) - there was a strong German presence: food - architecture - old wooden polka halls.
Here’s a photo at a studio probably in Holland. Koos Biels and - Neil Tuxen (a Norwegian steel player) are here plus European & US musicians - producers and engineers. Koos and Neil are great players.
