Cool I have several different brands of clip on tuners for my regular guitars, but all are too small to clip onto my Rogue lap steel which has a stock about 1-1/2 inch thick. Do they make a clip on for lap steels to accommodate this range of thickness? Thanks.

You can clip a tuner onto a tuning peg.
Works fine.

I will clip my tuner on the 1/4 plug with my keyless Magnatone and it works fine

Hi Frank

Your avatar pic has almost the same National/Supro and Dickerson/Magnatone lap steels as I have:

Look for a tuner made for violin. They are usually big enough to clip onto the scroll of the headstock, easily big enough to clip onto a lap steel guitar. Either that or buy a foot pedal tuner.

I'd go with a Peterson everytime.

It made my other clip on tuners look like a joke. Invest in the quality once and save in the long term.

I have tried a lot of clip on tuners, and my fave is the TC Electronics. Metal case, and bright window, easy to see in sunlight outdoors. Big clip, I have not found a lap that it will work on yet. The Peterson would be my #2.

My polytune didn't work well on my 12 string as I found the low notes it struggled in the E2 range. So my 12, 11, 10 and 9th strings kept on giving wrong readings.
Same as the Snark.

But whatever works for your setup is the most important thing.

Why bother with a clip on? Korg makes a plug in (CA-30) about $20-30. works fine on consoles or thick headstocks.
