I'm hoping someone is willing to listen to this short video and give me input on what's wrong with my amp. The amp sounds good after it gets the gas out. Should I even worry about it?

Paul, That is the sound pattern of an electrolytic capacitor that is going bad. Probably in one of the lower level audio stages. The cap has leakage but will still take a charge. The noise goes away when the cap is fully charged on turn on. When you turn it off, the cap discharges.
Does the noise happen with the volume control turned all the way down?
Probably it is a small bypass or coupling cap.
Yes, it should be fixed. It will only get worse with time.
Standard signal tracing techniques should locate it quickly. |

It was the capacitors. The amp sounds great after a full cap job by a local tech. BTW, new tubes also helped. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know you've got the amp up to speed again. |
