My seat was 21" When I got it. It was too tall for my 5'9" frame. My legs drug a little under my Old MSA. After about an hour of playing, My legs would start feeling numb. I Cut the legs on my seat till it is 19" to the top of the compressed foam from the floor. That was 16 years ago and it still fits great.
A comfortable height is important to spending a lot of time at the steel learning and playing.
Good Luck and Happy Steelin.

I have three and there all a different height. I like the 21" for myself, one is 19" and is just a little to short, haven't figured a way to make it taller yet.

Normally, the seat should be of a height where when you are seated at the guitar (with both feet in playing position), the upper portion of your legs rest fairly parallel to the floor...FWIW: I am also 5'7" and a standard height seat works fine for me. Seat dimension may have more to do with a person's inseam measurement than their overall height.

Certainly no one size fits all solution there. I'm not quite 5'8" tall and have a 25" inseam. If you're over six feet with long legs you don't want the same height as me. A 21" packseat is way too high for me. I bought an adjustable bench instead. Even if a packseat fit me I've always found them to be the most over-priced piece of gear out there. Your money is better spent on something that contributes to your sound, IMHO.
