Hello all. I play a 6 string lap steel tuned to C6. Beautiful sound, except that I feel the High E string is too bright....too thin sounding, compared to the other strings. I'm afraid that I don't know what the gauge is, but assume that it is a normal gauge that came in my string package. Would you please recommend to me a heavier gauge High E string that might mellow out the sound? Thank you.

Try at least a .015. Personally I use a .016 on the high E. I have never seen a set of strings for C6th with a .016 as the high E, not sure why because it sounds way better and totally cures that thin and tinny sound you are describing and I have yet to break one.

Nathan, thank you so much. Put on the heavier gauge .016 and it sounds great. No more catfights.
