I am interested in Quilter 101 mini head which Lee Jeffries uses.

If you haven't already seen it, you might want to look at this thread posted a few days ago:

I really like the Yamaha THR10 amp; Alan Akaka and Gerald Ross use it. I think Bobby Ingano uses a little Roland Mobile Cube amp all the time. Set the amp next to you and put a good instrument mic right in front of it, output to the PA/ mixer.

I have two amps that I use with my arch top electric guitar and my steel. One is Polytone Mini Brute II that I bought new in '86 or '87. It has a 12" speaker. It's heavy, has great mellow tone, and can get really loud. Two months ago, I bought a tiny amp called a ZT Lunchbox Jr. It weighs five pounds and is about the size of a roasted chicken. It has a beautiful mellow tone and surprising volume. That ZT is a great amp in my opinion.

Fender Blues Jr. 15 watts, tube tone... I've been using them a lot for recording, and low volume gigs (trios, etc). Of course if you are mic'ed up, it will handle the loud ones too.

Good luck,

Fender Passport Mini has been working for me recently, for small in-an-out gigs, lap steel and elec bottleneck.

It has two separate channels, built-in-tuner, decent amp models on the guitar channel, especially the multiple "Twin" and "Tweed Deluxe" settings. The PA channel is fine for Dobro, mandolin, etc. Battery life is not nearly as good as Roland MicroCube, but not a problem if you've got 110v outlet.

I use the Roland 40xl for louder gigs and the Roland Mobile Cube for smaller gigs. Both sound excellent and are cheap enough that you don't worry about them. The built-in effects are good too.

I like the Fender Blues Jr for the Lap as well as small Guitar gigs, heck I have even used it for Steel at rehearsals.

The EL84's and the way the PRE and MASTER work together ( old school) allow for the "grit" tones to be dialed in as desired. No extra OD front end circuits as used in the Hot Rod series. This is what cuts the BJr apart from the rest of the pack.

My take, for around $300 used, maybe one of the better Fender amp deals out there if not the best !
