Got a Peavey Deuce (78 I think) for $50 and the guy had replaced the Master Gain pot with a replacement that isn't tall enough. Peavey said they might be able to get the part if I can get them a part #. They said the part # is written on the pot - but I don't have the original. Anyone can help would be appreciated,

Does the amp have tremolo(240 series) or phase (VT Series)?

Looking at my old schematics for the 240 series amps I see no parts numbers for the pots. Even the later VT series had no parts numbers. Still it surprises me that someone at Peavey can't help. I would call Mike Brown and see if he can get that part number for you.

I have some of the old Peavey pots in stock, if you can get the part number. If Peavey has stock that would be the best source for you

Does the preamp use discreet transistors(3 pin) or opamps(8 pin)?

The 240 series used transistors in the preamp. The VT series used opamps

Correct, Ken. Two versions of the amp used a 10K pot and another used a 50K pot.

It's the 50K pot that I'm looking for. SOmeone used and Alpha and the legs aren't long enough. This thing is near mint inside. I also broke the pilot light when I pulled it out of there.

One thing that you can do is extend 3 wires from the circuit board and connect to a replacement pot that has the correct shaft style and length. Then mount the pot with the legs up mounted to front panel. Peavey did that with a pot on the last runs of the Nashville 400 amps. Just an option that might work for you.

I have a schematic for an A series Deuce that shows 50K pots for the Master Volume and also the treble and bass pots. The Deuce B Series shows the Master and midrange control as 50K pots.

Our records indicate that the master gain pot is a 10k pot. Does this match your records?
