Attempting to wire a micro switch to a Truetone split pickup. The wires on the pickup are coded; green, white, and orange. Would the white be 'hot' and green be 'ground'? The switch features six posts, two for each position; need information on which wires attach to which posts and should each wire pass through both posts when soldering...Thank you. |

Is this a single neck guitar? If so, then this will work.
If you have a multimeter, there'll be somewhere around 20KOhms between two of the wires, and (if I know Jerry) there'll be about 8K between the third wire and one of the first two, and about 12K between the third wire and the other of the first two. You want the one with the 8K differential at the tip.
I'm guessing, and it's only a guess, that the green wire will be ground, the white will be the tip, and the orange wire the middle.
Run green to the sleeve, the white to the tip, and the orange to one of the outer lugs on one side of the switch. A wire should go from the center lug of the same side of the switch to the ground/sleeve. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Lane..The guitar is a Pro II double neck. Both switches were broken (more like smashed) during shipping, becoming separated from the end plate and torn loose from the wires (found what was left of them lying in the bottom of the case). Figured the wiring scheme out with a little trial and error and the taps seem to be working fine now..Thanks for the reply. |
