I'm still on Logic 9, but I've never seen anything quite as cool as that. That said, I've become pretty adept at creating 'drag point' pairs at each end of a section, and then click/dragging the center section up and down. Sort of like this:
Code: |
Create 4 points:
---o--o--------------------------------o--o-------
Click and drag here
---o | o-------
\ V /
\o--------------------------------o/
|
Once you have the level right you can drag any of the points left and right to change ramp rates as well.
It's not near as elegant as this demo, but I can do it in a real hurry without much thinking. You probably already know how to do all this.
I'm not sure I'd ever use most of those edit modes he shows with the stuff I do.. I guess they'd be nice to have, ya never know. _________________ Lost Pines Studio

Thanks for your reply, Bill Terry.
The example that you drew out is exactly how I've been accomplishing clip automation in Logic.
It would be nice to have the same slick feature in Logic as it is in Studio One, but I guess it's not that big of a deal. |

excellent video, very kool. This is also available in Pro Tools but I have never used it. I am thinking I will !
I have always adjusted clip gains manually, but this just seems to easy ! _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Tony, performing clip automation in Studio One is very easy.
I haven't used it to do anything fancy like in the video, but I have used it just to even things out a bit (Like when I hit the volume pedal a little too hard).
Hasn't this feature been available in Pro Tools for quite a while now?
Studio One finally added this with version 3.2.

Rick, yes it has been available but I have been using other methods to TRIM the peaks, old school I guess. Pro Tools has an entire suite of tools called "audio suite" which I use, a lot of users feel those are archaic but heck they work just fine ! Sure a few extra steps but still valid none the less.
I like the idea of clip automation, I think I will put it to use on the next project, see what happens !
