Only two weeks away folks. I'm totally pumped for this!

Come join us for the 16th RISGA Steel Guitar show on Saturday October 15 from 3:00 to 9:00+ at the Tiverton VFW club. We've got a great bunch of players including special guests John and Darlene DeMaille. This year we are fortunate to have one of the best local classic country bands, South County Line, featuring RISGA member and Steel Player of the Year, Roger Trahan. We'll feature our club members as well as some great steel players who are with us for the first time.

Plenty of dance floor plus a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and food available. Tickets $10 at the door or available from RISGA members. Check us out on Facebook at RISGA.

We hope you all have a great time and a great crowd at the Steel Show. I think you will find that it is going to be a great turn out as you will be where you belong in Rhode Island. That is where it all started and that is where it belongs. No hard feelings Anna and I worked hard for the first 5 Years to get it all together and running.

I was headed to Florida via the autotrain today but it was cancelled and will be down for a few days due to the flood in NC. So now Sunday is freed up and I will be attending and try to put a couple of songs together.
It's been a LONG time since I played any steel instrumentals at a steel show so I'll have to dust off a few rusty old songs but will be glad to give it a try.
See you there!
Here's one I'll probably play https://youtu.be/6TUvQ5a4PJ0

Nice pictures Karen. I'm especially fond of the first one!!
We all had a great time. The music, the people, logistically it seemed to go very smooth but Jim and Jo would have a better take on that.
We had Freddy Krause who did a great job with his double neck fender steel
It was nice seeing Vinnie Doyle there. I had forgotton how well he plays! Thank you so much for playing in the show!
Then I played some tunes that I was relatively familiar with...always closing with "Wild Mountain Thyme" and the "Theme from Love Story".
Roger Trahan played next. He is definately one steel player who is consistantly getting better and better all the time. Your playing is amazing! You were also quite busy! You played your set list, you played with the guest band "South Country Line" (who were very good by the way) and then you played in the jam! Nice going Roger!
Tony Palmer was also a surprise show due to a tranportation problem (thankyou Matthew!!!)and he played some very beautiful tunes. One in particular I love that he does, "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. Thanks Tony.
Karen always makes me smile when I hear her play. Something in her delivery, attitude, and style like in "Crazy Arms" and "Jukebox Charlie" that permeates her playing. Very unique and determined. I remember listening during the jam when she cranked up the overdrive and excellently executed really some over the top playing that got me saying to myself, "How does she do that"???
Manny's playing is always exceptional. He's up there haveing fun, full of confidence and captures the listener. I need to learn to relax like that!
Chris Brooks closed the show with his wonderful, intricate playing that always seems to take you to a different place and gently brings you back again. Simply amazing.
I want to thank Jim Rice our RISGA President and,Jo Vierra, RISGA Vice President and Roger Trahan, RISGA Treasurer for the extreme effort that it took to pull off a very enjoyable show!!

We have come a long way. The RISGA Steel Show was a "blast from the past". Present steel shows are heading downhill. Also recruiting steel pickers for the show was somewhat challenging for president Jim Rice, but the fun we had and the full house made it a huge success. May 5, 1996 to October 15, 2016 adds up to 20+ years. WOW! Forgive me for digressing here but I would like to explain when and where it all began. The very first R.I. steel show was instigated by the late John Jiacoveli. He convinced the Rhode Island Country Music Association President Bob Demoranville to have a steel show at the German Club in Pawtucket, R.I. on May 5, 1996. The house band was Ray Dixon who is still alive in his nineties. There were five steel guitar players in the show. They were: Nicky Frongillo, Joe Ferri, Manny Escobar, Roger Trahan, and Andy Perry. We are all still alive and have trophies for being a participant in the CMA of RI 1996 Show. RISGA is on a roll now thanks to John Jiacoveli, Sam White, Tony Palmer, Roger Trahan, Marcia Rodrigues, and Jim Rice. Speaking of Jim Rice, he`s already talking 2017 for another show.
