| I just strung up both my lap steels with D'addario NYXL electric guitar strings. WOW! Amazing strings. All the guys I work with who play regular electric guitar swear by these strings, so I special ordered two sets. They are available as singles in any gauge you want. They are not cheap, with my discount two sets cost me over twenty bucks, but man are they nice! FYI the unwound strings are only available in pairs, which is why i ended up buying two sets overall for my two 8 string lap steels. TRY THEM OUT YOU WON'T BE SORRY. |

They also have a type that I've adapted for resonator (square neck) playing by changing the plain strings to heavier gages - the "Nickel Bronze" sets. just a little more expensive than resonator sets but longer lasting and much better tone.

So for me.
I can only recommend 2 brands: My hands sweat and deaden strings quickly.
So try Elixir (anti rust strings )
Or I stumbled across these:

These were so good that I ordered another 3 x 12 strings packs, paid postage, tax and customs.
So far so good. I am extremely happy as they also seem to hold their tuning extremely well.

We received our Dealer Samples of the NYXL Nickel Strings and they went on my personal Lap Steel Right away.
My 1st question is for Nathan is Where did get yours and what was the price and shipping?
My initial reactions are:
The High Carbon Content makes them stiffer than the same gauges in NW D'Addarios.
This is good for a number of reasons. 
It is like using Heavier gauges in feel and intonation holding , while keeping my normal gauges.
They come up to pitch and acclimate almost immediately.
Definitely much stronger interaction with the Magnetic Field , = Louder or more power output.
I have to pay attention to Bar Down Pressure, these babies are much less tolerant to Sloppy Technique.
Similarly to using a professional instrument - You have to Play Better because every little flaw is just as present as every Good Note.
Life span is far greater than any string I've been acquainted with. Great for those who never want to change out strings.
D'Addario's improved Nickel plating method , helps to prevent reaction to Hand Oiliness or Sweating.
These reasons alone make them worth the increased cost over other strings.

George,
I'm glad you also appreciate the NYXL strings. You described them in a way I couldn't. I agree with you completely.
To answer your question, I ordered them through my work, a daddario dealer in Bozeman, MT. I got them at cost plus 10%. Because the unwound strings only come in pairs, I ordered two of each wound string as well. So for two full 8 string sets I paid about 25 bucks. I think they would have cost 40 had I not gotten an employee discount. Hope that helps. |

| In my 2016-2017 wholesale catalog, Mfg suggested retail price $20.55 for a 6-string set but most stores sell strings below list price. I'm not stocking them in the store here because there's no demand locally for them. From a retail standpoint, I'll sell many more D'Addario EJ 16 & 17 guitar strings and EJ42 reso strings. You might get a better deal buying in quantity. There's a price break on these if the dealer buys 5 sets, usually need to buy 10 sets of D'Addario for the added discount. |
