Buddy Emmons "Basic C6" is a good one
it got me started
you can then go for all of Buddy's courses
they can be gotten right here on the Fo' Bro'
or at Ernie Renns http://www.buddyemmons.com
check out Jeff's Jazz too: http://www.mightyfinemusic.com/jeff's_jazz.htm

I think I've been through most of them, including the Buddy Emmons Basic course and Jeff Newman's Workshop video, but I got the most bang for the buck out of Herby Wallace's HWP-200. Everything in it seems pertinent. I'm pretty sure I got it at Scotty's, but there are other purveyors too, including Herby. http://www.herbywallace.com/pages/steelcourse.html http://www.scottysmusic.com/
At some point, you'll probably end up wanting to get some or all of Joe Wright's technique videos, though you can pick up a lot from his website, and here, and the Buddy Emmons site etc. http://www.pedalsteel.com/joe/tea/teach.html http://www.buddyemmons.com/

In addition to those excellent choices:

Jeff Lampert is a fantastic musician and has offered up this free wealth of info on the C6th neck. Sorry CrowBear, just saw you listed it, but it's worth mentioning twice. Thanks again, Jeff!

You may check out the 22 page book and CD at www.billycoopersmusic.com by Buddy Charlton and Billy. I am going to eventually get it myself just out of curiousity. It seems that a lot of Buddy's students go on to play professionally; I've met several. I'm also sure that other students of other instructors have also.

Let me add that long ago, I purchased Buddy Emmons "Basic C-6" on recommendation of Don Curtis and it has helped me immeasurably. In fact, I recommend all of Buddy's courses for anyone. If you go to his web-site (mentioned above), there is a lot of tab etc. I'll bet that a lot of us visit his web-site often and many if not most psg players are grateful that Buddy came along in this life.
