I'm thinking about looking into one of these. Any suggestions about brands, types, ...etc.

Will all of them hold up a Session 500?

Mark, I bought one at the Saluda Show a couple of years ago which is fantastic. I can't remember the name of the guy who sold it to me but maybe someone else on here can if I describe it. It made of tubing and and is sort of like a folding sign stand. It expands from side to side to accomadate the width of the amp. The cross rod which the amp sits on and the top cross rod are covered by rubber to help keep it from slipping. The amp can be either sat upright or tilted. These are very nice. When you take your amp off of the stand and then pick up the stand it just folds flat and it's a one hand operation. I'll look at the thing at lunch time today to see if it's got a name plate on it and if so I'll come back on and post it...Have a good 'un..JH

I use one. It is just a generic Guitar Center brand amp stand. It gets the amp up off the floor and tilts it back at an angle that you can adjust. I have a Nashville 400 and it holds that amp with no problems.

Cheers!

this may be old news, but it's new to me so I will share it:

A friend of mine built his own out of wood. Very simple; just 2 pieces of wood with a couple of hinges and a chain across the bottom.

The genius part is that unlike the small metal stands, the wood stand acts like a speaker box. Basically it redirects all of the sound coming out of the back of your amp, and pushes it out, between the bottom of your amp and the stage. I don't know a way of calculating how much louder this makes you. But it can't hurt. I hope this discription makes sense.

Hey Todd. I saw something similar to that at the last Dallas Guitar show. It also seemed to give much more bottom end tone, like a reflex cabinet. Cool idea.

Mark,

I heard about that also. It seems like that guy makes a much nicer version custom fit to your amp. That item captures all the sound coming out of the back and ports it out the front. The problem is that it's much bulkier and doesnt collapse for storage.

OK, that's a quik lok. Didn't know they made those. I use quik lok guitar stands and love them. That's the ticket. Mark, you the man, thanks!

I use one when the stage volume has to be low.
My amps road cases are designed to hold the amp at an angle that points it toward my head.

My Acoustic 165 amp in this picture is being supported by the inverted top of it's road case.

I do the same with a Nash 400, but don't have a picture.

When stage volume has to be high, I don't tilt the amps, thus no stand.

I started using amp stands about the same time that I replaced the "coke case on a folding chair" with a pac-seat...and it was for a Session 500.

Like most of the other "aids" that we have available today, it doesn't make us play any better, but it makes the process more convenient and enjoyable!

The main reason I want one is to hear myself a little better in the mix on stage. That Session could be considered a lethal weapon turned up, pointed at someone out in the audience! As always I'm just thinking of others! HA!

That is the exact reason I use one with my steel. If the amp is on the ground, then I need to crank up the Nashville to get my volume above the darn drummer who is banging on the ride cymbal that is right next to my ear! HA! With the amp on the stand and angled up like that, it is a little easier to hear and it helps keep the "stage" volume down.

Hi Mark. I use the Peavey amp stand. It is a simple design, easy to set up and take apart if need be. Tilts the amp back and you can choose 2 differnet angles. No problem safely supporting any amp I can carry.

Mark, I use the same Quik-Lok stand you have pictured. The only problem I have with it is you can't use it with a big, heavy amp unless you tilt it a lot! (The amp supports on the bottom just aren't long enough.) I like no more than about a 20-degree tilt, and with this stand and any of my big amps, I just have to set the tilt angle to about 45-degrees, or it will fall off the stand.

Actually most of the clubs I have played in for at least 30 years have provided one of these folding amp stands. Best part is they don't need to be packed up.

Buy a good road case and set the amp on top of it. Two birds with one stone.

Mark, No I haven't driven a new C6 yet. For now I'll have to be happy with my C5. Recently been throwing money at music equipment and shotguns. I have a new Williams on order. Santa Claus is supposed to bring it.
