How does one add knee levers to a Fingertip?

Actually, I'm wondering the same thing. Mine is 9+3, and I'd rather have it be 9+4. I mean, I get the concept of installing knee levers, but the problem with the Fingertip is the "custom" factor... things can be so different from guitar to guitar. I'd rather not put parts from another brand/model that don't match on it, but the knee levers on it don't entirely match as it is. I have a feeling I'll have to have parts custom fabricated, since I don't know of anyone who is currently making parts.

Here is a Fingertip that I rebuilt with Parts from PSG parts. All 4 knee levers, and the 2 hole pullers are new parts, works great now.

Here are some before shots

I don't really see the linkage on the F lever. I was looking at your work. Good job and you pretty well replaced the undercarriage. How did you connect the F lever. I assume your F lever is the LKL.

Wayne, here you go.

The new pullers are mounted to original cross shafts for the A B C pedals. Knee levers are all new, as is the rodding.

I owned a D10 fingertip with a center brace down the undercarriage that made the placement of knee levers very problematic.

Thanks Bob
Be interesting to have one of these old finger tips. I was sent a file with Lloyd Green playing with Charlie Pride on the Lawrence Welk show. I think that was a Finger tip. Was that the Lightning Bolt one?

That center bracket in your 2nd photo is what I was referring to. Your use of the smaller individual brackets is the correct fix.

Bob Muller; Just freakishly OUTSTANDING work from you my brother...you are so awesome; your stuff is PERFECT.

Wayne yes that is the "Lightening Bolt" fingertip ShoBud Lloyd played at that time.
I restored it and here's what I looks like in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Ricky, The restoration work on the "lightening Bolt" deserves some sort of special award!! This has got to be one of the most amazing guitars ever made. I would love to see it in person someday. Very Happy Very Happy

That Fingertip really looks good. When I asked that question, I thought it was the Lightning Bolt. James Morehead had sent me a file of that Welk performance to listen to. I guess that guitar and Mr. Green got things really going with that guitar.

I looked at the pictures again and wondered did all the old fingertips have that type undercarriage with the brace down middle?

Thanks Bob; yes James made the correct parts and I built it and it is perfect.
Wayne; yes the D-10 original that Bob posted underside pic; is how all the fingertips were made.

Wonder what it would be like to play behind a finger tip?
