Just a warning. Be careful about buying a case online. I just did so and made a big mistake. I won't mention the company, as they made the case the way I measured it. The mistake was; I measured it wrong. There are dozens of measurements that you will have to make to send to the person who makes the case. Each one has to be perfect. I missed just one by less than 1/2" and the case is functionally worthless. It looks beautiful, but the steel didn't fit in it. Again, THIS WAY MY FAULT! The person made a beautiful case for my steel The warning is to measure carefully, or at least have someone smarter than me measure. It shouldn't be too hard to find someone smarter than me.

My father always told me, "measure twice, cut once." He should have told me to measure three times.

Hi Duncan, please be more specific. What guitar did you need it for and what is the measurements of a guitar it would fit? Maybe someone can use it.

If you bought a case from cases plus I am sure Gary will help you out with it, but if it is another brand you might want to contact them, Gary is a good friend of mine and he built me an excellent case for my MSA, He would be concerned that you could not use it, steveb.

Duncan, Rob Anderson has made five steel guitar cases for me, each one different, and they were all a perfect fit for each instrument:

Duncan,
Talk with your builder. Maybe the case can be modified to fit your guitar. This would probably cost less than starting over...
Good luck... Larry J.

Folks, Wayne from Out West Country, the gentelman who sold me the case, walked me through a repositioning of the divider to make the case fit like a glove, and hide the new holes. He did this tonight, the same night the case arrived. He really gave some tremendous customer support for his product and was agreat and fun man to talk to on the phone. If you need a case, whether or not you are a klutz like me, I would like to put in a plug for Out West Country cases and Wayne, the man behind them. I hear he also makes seats too.
Thanks a lot Wayne, and all the kind words from the forum.

Duncan, you're correct about Wayne, he built my case(s) and seat and they were more than i expected. I gave him measurements over the phone (his dime) and when i recieved the cases (set of 2) the steel fit like a glove. And so did my seat. Good to do business with and he will stand solidly with what he builds. Now , take that Bubba Wayne .

Hey Guys,
This didn't start out as an advertisement for Out West Country, it just ended up that way. The events unfolded as the post progressed. I just love stories with a happy ending, and this story has one.
I think I initially posted to relieve the despair after I saw the mistake I hade made, and to keep me from jumping out the window. (Don't worry, my house is all on one floor.) My initial point was to be very careful with the measurements for the case. I knew that everything about these pedal steel beasts was complicated, but I had no idea that included the case. My new rule is to measure three times then ask someone how to do it right
Have a great night, Duncan

With all the various hubbub about steel mfgrs and folks providing parts who don't treat their customers as though their lives depend on them, it's great to hear a story of customer service 'above and beyond the call of duty'.

I had a case made for my S-12 push-pull on a D-12 frame by Kenny Rollans' son Mike. I couldn't have asked for a better fit or better treatment from Kenn and the boys.

There ARE companies out there who treat their customers like royalty. I always seek them out whenever possible and they ALWAYS get my return business.

I dont think anyone should feel bad about measuring wrong. didnt NASA make a mistake with a Mars explorer craft. it crashed into the surface of Mars because someone didnt change metric into US standard in calculating distance. doh!

Yes Joe, your beautiful, fantastic sounding Speedy West Marlen has a brand new home of it's own. I don't know what I was thinking when I thought for a minute I could sell it. I guess I had what the Brits call "a momentary loss of reason". I still play it every day and sometimes just like looking at it in the afternoon light.
