I really enjoy the sound of a mellow clarinet..Acker Bilk has been one of my favorites, along with Henry Cuesta from my young days of watching Lawrence Welk. Some of Benny Goodmans music is pleasing to me, but not enough clarinet for this category. I think Pete Fountain would also fit, altho some of the dixieland style gets too busy for me. I dont know names to search for, so I was hoping maybe someone could make some recommendations for me to listen to. Should state that I am mostly interested in the standards from the 20s, 30s, 40s, etc. as opposed to classical music. Thanks in advance

Hi, Larry- you may have enjoyed John Jorgenen's work with The Desert Rose Band or The Helllecasters- but it sounds like you might really love his last several solo albums, chock full of his slick and tasteful guitar and clarinet playing on great Djangoesque swing tunes. Just wonderful.
