I have been looking for some time for a Shields "Crap Trap" pickup for my Sierra 12. A couple of weeks ago I came across a posting about Jim Pitman's Tonealigner, which was described as equal to/or better than the "Crap Trap". Sooo...I bought one. WOW!! Was I in for a treat...the Tonealigner has fantastic string seperation, crystal clear highs and no hum. It has the best features of the "Crap Trap" and a full even range. If your looking for a new pickup, such as a single coil, do yourself a favor and take a listen to the Tonealigner first. Its been around for awhile, but has not received the recognition it deserves. This pickup is right up there with the top popular brands. A real find!

I am very happy with Jim Pitman's pickups also. They sound great in my Franklin.

Here is Jim's E mail if anybody wants to get in touch with him:

I use Pitman pick-ups in all of my guitars. The best thing about the Pitmans is the adjustability of the pole magnets. If you adjust the pole pieces right, you can get the third string as loud as the tenth. Whitch makes for an unbelievably even volume across the tuning. Best pick-ups Iv`e ever used. JayDee Maness

High praise from a steel guitar giant. Jim's pickups will acquire "recognition" quickly with endorsements like that.
