For years I've played the old Emmons p/p's and never used one of these and really didn't know much about it as the guitar sounded great without it. Now after going through a few of the newer all-pull guitars I can't find one that sounds really good without the Matchbox. So are any of you playing an all-pull without it and if so what kind of guitar do you play? Why couldn't the Matchbox features be built into any guitar?

I bought a Match Box years ago and only used it a couple of times. I tried it with my Mullen but it always just sounded like a tone control to me. When I got it set to where I liked it, I could just plug the guitar in direct and it sounded the same. It didn't really make the guitar/amp sound "better" to me.
