After being away from Nashville since 2003 I am headed back home. I spent 12 years in Texas playing with many of my heroes and great singers and musicians. I also had the opportunity to work with Maurice Anderson, Kyle Bennett and all of the wonderful group at MSA. For the past year I've been here in Branson working with Mel Tillis, The Baldknobbers and a couple other shows. It's been fun for sure. Bottom line is that I miss home and my family. My grown children live in the Nashville area and I have grandchildren that I want to watch grow up. I'm not going back to rekindle my playing career. I'm going to get myself a day job, come home to the wife at night and spend my weekends with my family. Sure I'll pick if someone wants me too but I'm going to be paw paw and dad, something that I didn't do so well when my kids were growing up. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and maybe hanging out at the Opry occasionally. It's been a great ride. _________________ Johnny "Dumplin" Cox

Johnny, you won't regret it. Being around old friends and family is good for the soul. I'm sure your phone will be ringin' off the hook if you want to do some playin'. Best of luck to you. |

Johnny, there is something to be said about being PawPaw. It's just the best and I wouldn't trade it for anything in this world. Good luck with the move. |

Congrat's on your decision, you won't regret it. I am so blessed to have the best of both world's - my grand babies are close by to Papa and the Lord is blessing me with lots of playing opportunities. Family near you is the biggest thrill yet. |

Best of luck to you Johnny! You are one great player and I hope you can get all you want in Nashville. I remember the time and where I was when I first heard of you. I had gone to bed on a Saturday night and the Ernest Tubb record show radio show came on and you were introduced. I had the pleasure of playing many steel shows that you were on mostly the Tulsa show and always enjoyed your playing.

Best of luck and best wishes to you Johnny in your move. I surely understand as I made a similar choice quite some time ago. Like John Buffington said, you won't regret it..!!
Taking my Grandson's out on the bassboat fishing is truly a treasure for me. Just one of many. I know you'll have similar great things with your family and friends back in Nashville.
All the best...

Johnny we still miss you in Texas. I will always cherish the time when you set your steel up beside me at the Llano Opry and brought the house down. Great memories. Good luck in Nashville. _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red
