I am haveing trouble with the "B" pedal raise(g# to A)on my sixth string going flat after two or three songs. I retune and in another few songs its flat again.My 3rd string raise is fine.This steel is a late 70's Sho~Bud "the Pro III custom" triple raise,double lower, narrow pedals and
Gumby headstock,teardrop knees. Any thoughts? Thanks.... |

| No S/B expert here for sure, but this problem can occur when a nylon pedal tuning nut gets worn out and the threads won't hold. Else, look for something contacting a rod and causing the rod to turn when activated. I'm quite sure the Sho-Bud techs here will have a cure for you. | I have had this problem when I did not have enough string wrapped on the tuning key. The string slips on the key and unwinds. Look at the end of the string and see if it gets shorter when it goes flat. Or, try a new string to save time. |

Another thing to check is that the set screw that holds the rod at the brass insert is tight.

If you still have the chrome plated changer fingers ( the ones with the slot to hold the string end ) then there is a good chance the finger is worn out. The only fix is to replace the finger. I had the same problem with my LDG. Duane Marrs replaced mine with fingers of much better quality. However I do miss the slot for the string end.

The G# (open)stays in tune . Its the raised note that goes flat. So far...I think Jerry
Overstreet may have nailed it! I swaped nylon tuners to one from my C6 neck,played for quite a while and she's still in tune...Better wait a while though before Im sure. Thanks everyone for your help!

Hey Larry,
One of the things I did with my old ShoBud to eliminate the problem with slipping nylon tuners was just to take a piece of thread and double it. Then lay it across the hole of the nylon tuner and screw it back on, this makes it tighter. I had some on the guitar for years like that and never had any more problem with them. I have a BMI now and have done the same thing with it. Have a good 'un...JH

Check and see if a Ilet got jamed in there from a broken string when the last string broke. To prevent this from happening take a peice of fine foam rubber and cut it to fit in the gape in the exchanger against the Iletts.I use this methord and it woks great.
