Does anyone know the intro to this song? Also, does anyone know the steel player on this record? I absolutely love it. |

Josh, thanks for posting the video for this. Very well done for sure.
I never heard the song before either, but after watching your
video last night I got it down pretty good. Wish there was a track
for this, it sure would be nice played as an instrumental as well. _________________ aka "Lucky Kay"--Custom built Rittenberry SD10 3X5, Walker S/S, NV-112, and Hilton Pedal |

After listening to this about three times, I believe the intro is played by Hal Rugg. |

Tyler,
If you love that kind of steel, listen to the Wilburn Brothers albums from the 60s and 70s.
When I was a kid learning steel back then, it was a wealth of Hal Rugg licks. It will make you a fan of the WBs. Hal did most of their cuts.Years later when I moved to Nashville, those licks helped in commercial playing. Never thinking I'd be calling Hal to fill in for gigs for me. Funny how things turn out.

Josh,
I haven't been on here for months and just noticed that you made a lesson video on this, thanks so much! The lesson was great, and I subscribed to your YouTube channel. You have some great other lessons on there as well.
Joe,
Thanks for finding the actual session info, I had a feeling it would be Lloyd Green.
Ron,
I love the steel in the Wilburn Brothers records, never knew it was Hal Rugg before, appreciate the info. |
