What are good sounding speakers for pedal steel through a Fender BF Twin Reverb?
I've been using Weber 12F150's but have never been satisfied with the sound of them.
What's got tone?

When I ordered my Fender Twin Reverb back in 1967, I ordered it with JBLs and I'm sure not sorry! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Bob, it's essentially an original '67. Had some tweaks done to it.
Erv, yeah JBL's sound great—I've got them in my Pro—but I hate hauling them around. If I had roadies... _________________ Bruce Wandmayer

Bruce, sorry to say but I am a jbl guy. There is nothing even close to a d120. That amp is a gem that deserves them. Real arm stretchers though.
If I was going neo with 12's I would try to track down TC furlong 's eminence 12s or look at Travis Toy's. I tried the telonics and didn't like them at all . I also didn't like the Italian neo's. I think they were called sica's
For ceramic style 12's check out peavey. They are the speaker of choice for the Nashville guys. I used Celestion classic lead 80's for years doing sessions in NYC. Old Fane's can be great too. _________________ Bob |

The D's and K's made by JBL have the light alnico magnet in them.....it is the E's; they have heavy ceramic magnet.
Weber is a wannabe JBL. Nothing will sound better than D or K from JBL... 120 is 12" and 130 is 15".
To me next in line is Fender originally used those blueback speakers by Jenson/Jensen?? : they sounded ok.
Here is what my Blackface Fender Twin with JBL K-130 sounds like>

My 67 Twin has 25 watt Greenback Celestions and sounds very good and clean for PSG.

My 65 reissue has the Jensen C-12K speakers. I like them a lot. I have had the JBL's in a twin also and they really work. Just a couple options. |

I agree, the Twin with JBLs is a real hernia special but I put castors on mine and lift handles on the sides. This really helps. ![Very Happy](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Thanks, all! I was hoping to find something lighter than JBLs but they keep showing up in my face.

Bruce,
All you need to do is find a big blonde Norwegian who played for the Green Bay Packers, she could just toss that Twin over her shoulder. ![Whoa!](images/smiles/icon_omg.gif) |

Each piece this way is very light.
And these cabinets were built by Rick Johnson and me and lloyd green have matching green cabs; to match the green LDG...oh YES Lloyd plays through fender twin with JBL too...so how can ya possbily think there is anything better...?? ha.

I have a BF twin with a K 130.
I don't sound like Lloyd or Ricky .
I guess the amp must need a major tune up. |

Way back, I did a side-by-side comparison, and once I heard how much better the Electro-Voice SRO and EVM speakers sounded, I either sold or gave away all my JBL's. ![Oh Well](images/smiles/icon_ohwell.gif) |

I'd say JBL's as well. I also have a Twin with EV's. It's heavy as any Twin I've picked up, but the speakers are really great for steel. _________________ Emmons/Sho~Bud/Blanton, Fender/Peavey.

I have JBLs in my ultralinear Twin. Sound great, but they kill my gas mileage taking them to a gig.
Also like Altecs & EV. Not a fan of the blue label Fender speakers; all highs & lows & no mids. _________________ A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag. |

There's probably a lot of that kind of thinking going on here in Forumland. ![Laughing](images/smiles/icon_lol.gif) _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Bruce, I've been using these Jupitor alnico's with my Fender amps and getting good results and positive feedback from the sound guys I've worked with for the last three or so years. Do they sound like Jbls? No....some of the guys like it better than the Jbl....

I've always been of the mindset of not changing components unless I'm dissatisfied, and can find nothing bad to say about the Eminence Legend EM-12G that are in my Ultralinear Twin. Here it is getting pushed a little
