Any luck with getting the leg/pedalrack case in as cabin luggage?

No pedal bar, but I've carried on a leg bag many times with no problem. This lightens my steel case to just under the weight limit.

Olli, think it will depend where and who you are flying with.European airlines, particularly the budget ones, are much stricter than US ones, and strictly enforce size/weight.The other thing is legs might be loosely be described as possible weapons and therefore have to be hold loaded., probably better to check with airline concerned.
