Mark, you never cease to amaze me ! Wonderful looking guitar and again well photographed. So this isnt a student model, since you can add pedals and knees to it. I have had 3 GFIs...great steels and under rated. Some one will get a really nice steel ! I am broke or I would be interested ! _________________ Zum Encore, Remington D8 non pedal, Hallmark Mosrite clone, Gretsch 6120 DSW, Gretsch G5210T-P90 Electromatic Jet Two 90,1976 Ibanez L5, Eastman archtop, Taylor Dreadnaught, Telonics pedal, Squire Tele, Squire Strat, Fender Tonemaster, Gold Tone 5 string banjo, Little Wonder tenor banjo, 3 Roland cubes 30s and 80, Carvin combo bass amp |

Actually Larry, it is an old student model. Way back they used to have barcus-berry pickups.
Technically the changer is set up for a basic copedent of 3x4. You can see it listed on the GFI website. The changer fingers are only drilled for that copedent.
Changing that copedent will cause you to have to drill and where there is a raise and lower on the same string, you will have to use springs to balance the open note.
I believe there are tuning instructions on the web site too. Basically you will have to look at how the E string is handled and tuned and apply it to your new change.
At least the bell cranks are moveable.
Honestly, I wouldn't fool around with trying to change the copedent on this one.
Plastic riser about 1/4" deep is kind of cheap. I think there are better options available than this guitar at this price. Mark probably has some himself. |

Funny looks like little a Little Buddy. They keys, USA retention nut, keys, steps, bridge, changer and undercarriage all look like Little Buddy parts. Were they related to GFI in any way? _________________ https://youtube.com/channel/UCh1x9gTHF_Dw_sf905YZ7IQ |

Little Mike was Little Buddy .
No they were not related if anything this GFI is more like a fender S10. Gene Fields (GFI= Gene Fields Instruments) was a long time Sho Bud employee and then Fender (he headed steel guitar R+D plus sales for Fender). He passed away a couple years ago but service is still top notch.
To respond to Mike, if you can find a better value for the price call it out if you wish, but please put in a separate post. Larry Lenhart knows a great guitar when he sees one.
Kind regards to all, have a great weekend, and hoping both
Little Buddy and Little Mike are picking at that big country show in the sky, where admission is always free, and every act has a psg.!!!!!

I heard little Buddy was made by Freeman Cowger before he made Cougar guitars. I bet if you compare undercarriage of those two you will see a likeness.
The changer is the same as the ones I had many years ago. Never had a string retainer on it. Otherwise it all looks stock to me.
Don't mean to crash on your sale, Mark, but Larry said:

That is just not true. Since you did not correct him, I did. Don't want to see new players misled and I am sure you do not want to either.
Good luck. |

I don't think this is true. It doesn't appear to be machined for more pedals or levers.
But it is a good pull-release GFI, with the standard 3 pedals (ABC) and 4 levers. RKR lowers strings 2 and 9. RKL raises 1 and 7. E's raise on LKL, lower on LKR. Nice.
