Hi everybody. I want to thank everyone that has checked out Playpedalsteel.com so far! Ya'll have been real supportive, and I've enjoyed sharing it through the Forum. For those who haven't seen it yet, I've posted several topics on the Forum in the last few weeks with articles, techniques, and practice tips that can be found there.
My main goal with this website is to spread the love/knowledge about the pedal steel guitar -- or in other words, to encourage people to learn more about this fascinating instrument. I know many people enjoy listening to it, seeing it, and hearing more about it, even if they don't know exactly what it is. Wouldn't it be great if, one day, the pedal steel was a household name and everyone knew what the instrument was?
I know there are many variables involved with this, and I've been on the Forum for years reading about the future of the instrument, and where it possibly stands. No matter what though, I know we all care about the instrument (steel guitars too) and are passionate about it. That is why we are on the Forum sharing our ideas, knowledge, and thoughts about it. This is a community that cares about its instrument, which is awesome
Anyways, I plan on growing Playpedalsteel.com as time goes on, and continually adding quality content and material related to the instrument. My main passion in life is playing the instrument, and recording/performing with it: but I want to share the knowledge and culture related to it as well, just as ya'll shared it with me as I was learning.
I'm going to use Playpedalsteel as a platform to try and reach more people, and encourage pedal steel guitar. In doing so, I will continue to encourage people to check out The Steel Guitar Forum too
This week, and the continuing future, I am going to reach out to social media (Facebook to start) as well as other forums (six-string guitar, recording, and other music forums). I am going to engage in dialogue, and creatively encourage people to check out, and learn more about the instrument in one way or another. I'm looking forward to hearing what they have to say, their curiosities, or what they already know about the instrument!
As I begin to reach out to others, I would really appreciate your feedback on the website so far. I have been working very hard the past several weeks to get it to where it is. There is still a lot to be done, as there are so many aspects/variables to this neat instrument. I know in the near future I plan to add:
-Detailed tablature and technique exercises for the learning process,
-Player profiles with cool details and stats - like professional football or basketball players have online or in pre-game shows - and with many more players than currently!
-More about the mechanical nature of the instrument.
-Significant, must-have recordings from pedal steel's history and traditional past
-Engaging posts and content about the culture of the instrument and its music
There's even more than this, so it will take some time to tackle it all. I like where it is heading though
Here are the different audiences that I think can be encouraged to learn more about the pedal steel: other musicians (mostly every musician I've met loves pedal steel, especially six-string players), people who just like to listen to music - every human pretty much, music enthusiasts, other steel guitar players, and anyone else with even a spark of curiosity.
This is a really long post I want to communicate as clearly as possible my intentions, and why I'm asking for your help/feedback.
So to get to the point, I would really appreciate your feedback on the website so far. Any ideas, tips, or thoughts about the website? Here's a link:

Also, if you have a Facebook account, you can like the website through Playpedalsteel -- please do! It is in the upper right area of the website. Or if you're on Facebook you can like the page there -- Facebook.com/Playpedalsteel is the page.
Also, I put this post in this topic/section because I want to cultivate feedback in regards to encouraging the pedal steel, as well as feedback on the website.
Thanks, and let me know what you think!
