I have a friend near Charleston, SC looking for one on one instruction for beginners .

lost cause in that area. A few players but no instructors that I know of. If he is looking for one on one, there are some guys that do video chat instruction.

I live about 3 hours away but often in Charleston. I would be more than happy to offer basic intro stuff free when I'm in the area and have time.
