Hey Guys,
I could use some advice. I just got a like-new EVM 15B off Ebay. When I tried to mount it in a Peavey 115E cabinet, I discovered the screws were not long enough to mount the speaker...they were just a hare short. I can't remove these screws as they are mounted from the front and the grille cloth will be damaged it I mess with them.
I looked at the front of the speaker where the padding (rubbery material) surrounds the frame. It's pretty thick--about 1/4". If I remove this material, I should be OK. I will be able to mount the speaker without any trouble.
I was wondering if removing this pad is a bad idea? I'm sure it serves a useful purpose such as ensuring the frame does not get bent in the tightening process or preventing vibration noise (??).
Any ideas? Thanks for your assistance!

Disregard. I ended up changing some cabinets around and got it to work on another set of cabinets.
Thanks. Please close...

The gasket IS important!
An easy way to "fix" the mounting problen is to remove the screws, (cutting them first may be needed to give enough clearance). Then open the hole enough for a T-nut, and install them. I use the correct length socket head cap screws to mount the speaker. |
