I have a solid ash '79 body Stratocaster w/ 50's C neck, and brass hardware. To wit:
I call it "The General" -- brass, and lots of it. Pickguard, tremolo plate, neck plate, chunky vintage Gary Kahler trem bridge/saddles, jack plate, and control knobs--all solid brass.
The body is solid ash and was made in 1979. It originally had the 3-bolt neck, but as you can see, it was doweled (see 7th picture) and retrofitted with a 50's style maple C neck.
I have no idea about the neck. It's nice, and of good quality. There's no date on the heel, but it has the early style truss nut. It's pretty old as the nitro finish has aged naturally (not relic'd) to a golden hue with requisite age checking. Frets are in good shape. It has old gold Kluson tuners.
The middle and neck pickups appear to be of 70s vintage. The bridge pickup is a DiMarzio, I believe.
Case is an aftermarket tweed, and is in fair condition. All latches and hinges work.
Whomever built The General must've been a helluva big fellow; with the solid ash body and all that brass, the guitar weighs in at 11lbs. I'd imagine that the load could be lessened significantly by unloading all the metalwork, but it sustains for days!
Asking $750 shipped.
Here's some pitchers:
