Has anyone seen one of these? I saw a post on the old forum from back in 2004 and it looks like a copy of the book was being passed around for everybody to share. If anyone has any info about where to find one(I know they are hard to find) I'd be much appreciated and would glady post a PDF file of the book if I find a copy.

Thanks!

Hi Jim
No we don't have any hanging around, just one copy.
Wish I did.

With Rusty being such a good player, I used to wonder why this book never caught on with steel players, and why it's now so hard to find.

Figured it out once I saw a copy: there's no tab in the book to go along with the standard notation.

It's like the old joke:
How do you make a guitar player shut up?
Put sheet music in front of him.

But for those that read well, there's a good transcription of "Pickin' up the Pieces" among other classics.

I hope you can find a copy. If you can't dig one up on Amazon or on this forum... man, that tells you just how rare it is.

Yes it is heavy on theory with lots of standard notation - and no audio.

HI,NICHOLAS I HAVE THAT VERY SAME BOOK YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AMONG
MY STEEL GUITAR TUTORS. I DON,T USE IT AS MOST OF MY BOOKS ARE MORE
MODERN STEEL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THERE HAS BEEN INTEREST FOR
THS BOOK AS FAR AS I CAN TELL. AS FOR IT,S WORTH I,M NOT SURE.
I WOULD,NT MIND A TRADE FOR SOME BACKING TRACKS.FOR E9.
IF THAT WOULD BE POSSIBLE .REGARDS DEREK.

The one on Amazon is $295. eBay had one for a mere $100. I don't know about the legalities but maybe a PDF file of the book can be done and proceeds go to Rusty Young.

Tucker and Frank are right though; the book has musical notation only and no tablature. As we know, on a pedal steel one can get he same note, as shown by musical notation, on a different string and fret.

I had two of those at one time. I'll check to see if I still have one. Pretty sure I gave one away...maybe both...
