Just stumbled on this gem and gonna try to follow and maybe play it.
Does anyone know of any prior versions done in steel?
More important... Does anyone know if that is Chet Atkins on guitar?
Thanks all. _________________ Lawyers are done: Emmons SD-10, 3 Dekleys including a D10, NV400, and lots of effects units to cover my clams... |

Hello Ray. According to the liner notes from a double EB CD I picked up in Germany the song was originally recorded in Nashville as part of the "Instant Party" Vinyl album in 1961. The musicians were Chet Atkins and Hank Garland, electric guitars. Luther Brandon, acoustic guitar. Floyd T. Chance, bass. Floyd Cramer, piano and Buddy Harman, drums. |

They certainly did a bang up job on that tune.
Blew me away...
So much different from their 1957 recordings.
...
Chet Atkins and Hank Garland? (and..of course...Floyd Cramer) No wonder I sat there thinking holy $... that's good stuff, wow...
Now if I can just find a couple of them darn elusive passing chords, I'll be a happy camper.
Thanks John and Geoff, I really appreciate it.
BTW... Today I think that would be some pretty pricey studio time (assuming the musicians were still alive), and worth every darn nickel... _________________ Lawyers are done: Emmons SD-10, 3 Dekleys including a D10, NV400, and lots of effects units to cover my clams... |

Thanks, Joachim.
Was that Greg Leisz on guitar? That D10/PP looked lonesome, like it wanted to come home with me.
Need to hunt for the Chet version now. Nice song. |

Yes it's him, Dan. He does a good job on guitar, considering it's in B-flat. Honestly I can't get over the woman singer on the right, she's such good looking
