I only have one "go to" augmented chord grip on my C6, involving pedal 6 and a knee over raise on string 3. Are there others? I have a VKL raise from A to A #.
Thanks,
John |

Pedal 5 with your A to A# will give you an augmented 7th two frets below the root. |

You can also get a C augmented by playing strings 3, (4), 5, and 6 on the 13th (or first) fret with the 3rd string lowered a half step and the 5th string lowered (B pedal).
You can also get that chord on the 5th and 9th frets, and you can play a whole tone chord scale over a C augmented chord by going up two frets at a time - in other words, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, etc.
I hope this helps. _________________ www.susanalcorn.net

You're absolutely right, John. For convenience and without changing my setup, I've added more options by using slants. |

The easiest one is to lower A-G#, play 2,3,4. If you use standard pedal 5 and add string 5 it's a 7#5 4 frets up from open (which is 1 fret below your I chord, if you're using it as V7#5), 1 fret above the min7 of the open _________________ Christopher Woitach

I think maybe Susan is thinking "sus"
For Caug7 at 13th fret, you would lower the 6th string (ped 6) (back down to an E" natural)along with the 3rd lowered to "C" natural. Strings 6,5,4,3 read (bot to top)
E, G#, Bb, C. Leave out string 4 for the pure aug triad.
(I think) |

I suspect that Susan was actually talking about "Pedal 6". That would line up.
If she was referring to the "sus" chord using Pedal 5, then her statement about the same chord being at the 5th and 9th frets would not work out. |

Susan meant to say "C pedal", which is what she calls pedal 6. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

Yes, mental fog. For a C augmented 7th (which in pop music and jazz what's usually meant by the term), you should lower string 6 with the C pedal or 6th pedal. I apologize for whatever confusion I may have caused. Sorry 'bout that. _________________ www.susanalcorn.net
