This is my other "hobby". I guess most have seen Lynn's Derby. Here is a picture of my "shop" and a few samples of what I have been doing. I need to purchase and end plate so I can see what I can do in aluminum. I can engrave in brass, nickel and steel, but I haven't tried aluminum yet. Does anyone have an end-plate that they will sell so I can try it out?
Thanks,
Gary

Carl, I have only been doing this for about a year. What do you think of my HOBO NICKLES? What do you think about doing end-plates on a steel? I have to make a jig to hold them first.

Holding the work is an art in itself.
In my guitar work, I've done engraving with a pantograph engraver and shop made holders out of wood or aluminum jig plate. You could make up a couple wooden jaws with a small rabbet on top and clamp the on either edge of the end plate - or through bolt clamp it..

Alan, Mickey's work on that Sho~Bud, deserve to be in a class of its own(as does Mickey)? His guitar has been through just as much/nearly as much, as he! Get well, Mickey! |

Gary I like your hobo nickels.
What do you need to charge to make them?

I should have added if you were contemplating making any extras for resale. |

Dick, Send me your address by PM, and I'll send you something that you may like. Since my wife died, I just spend a lot of time "playing" my steel and engraving. It passes the time and keeps my mind off missing her. _________________ If you succeed in cheating someone, don't think that the person is a fool.
