| I've learned that re-stringing an Ernie Ball pedal is a bitch, and have re-strung many. However, this one is beating me. If there is a guide here on the Forum for revealing a possible "secret" for getting it done, please refer me to it or reveal the secret to me here. Thanks. ...Tom |

| I now realize that I was wrapping the string in the wrong direction. Everything now makes sense. With a cut-away EB pedal, it certainly makes things easier for the demonstrator. Too bad all EB pedals don't have the sides exposed. Ha. Thanks again. I've got it. ...Tom |

Guys, years ago I owned an Ernie Ball pedal. I discovered
by raiding my wife's crochet needles that they work very well for hooking the string and spring as shown in the video. Cheap way to fix without buying whatever that hook device is that's used in the video.  |

| Brad & Jim: I fashioned one out of 1/16" welding rod, then bent it over the bottom edge of the pedal's front end to hold the spring taunt (as a hook, like in the EB's video). Everything worked fine until I discovered that the pedal's front string was just too short for hooking to the spring. I had to give up trying to get enough string-slack to loop it over the roller-swivel at the pedal's front end. However, with the 3 loops around the pot's spindle it held and nicely turned the new Dunlop pot I installed in it. I might add that I had to drill out the spindle to 1/4". Apparently its hole was drilled for a metric pot's size (just under 1/4"). Job done! Thanks for all the help. ...Tom |

| My strings alway SLIP on my Ernie, to the point of hiding it on the back shelf and snarling at it every few years. It's GOT to be the humidity? |

FWIW, you can buy a cheap 4 pick set at Harbor Freight for just a couple bucks. Probably other longer picks like a discarded dental pick or similar will work too.
I just re-potted an EB, but I used an original pot/pulley assembly from EB. |
