~~~1973 Sho-Bud LDG SD-10 ~~~
This is a first year, round-front LDG with brass barrels behind 2-hole pullers.
I purchased this guitar from Jerry Jones in February 2014. Mr. Jones did a magnificent job totally restoring this beauty; he had the wisdom and good sense to not strip off and re-lacquer the original finish. A very wise move: the guitar's color is gorgeous - in a Rembrandt sort of way.
As Jerry stated in his original SGF posting:
• * Aluminum professionally buffed by “Bud’s Polishing†in Nashville
• * Original coil tap pickup rewound by Jerry Wallace to 12K/18K
• * Upgraded with new pull rods and nylon cross-shaft bushings
• * 4486 - Serial number indicates Nov. 1973 manufacture date
• * Kevin Hatton split-cases for lighter handling
This guitar has remarkable tone and sustain. It has appeared numerous times on recent sessions, on camera and on recordings for ABC-TV's "Nashville" (including a featured scene in the final episode of season four).
You can hear this instrument through a Fender Deluxe with an old JBL D-120F speaker on Sam Bush's new release entitled "Handmics Killed Country Music," featuring Sam, Emmylou Harris and the one and only Hargus "Pig" Robbins. Available at iTunes.
The guitar has standard Emmons E9th pedals with E’s lower/raise on left. RKR lowers 2/9 and RKL raises string 1 a whole step, string 2 a half step, and lowers string 6 a whole step (G# to F#). Some normal finish checking and cracking along seams.
I made one slight modification and asked Jeff Surratt to move the pickup switch from the side - where it had already been broken off - to a safer place underneath the guitar.
$3000 firm plus shipping & insurance to the continental United States. Local delivery preferred.
Mr. Schulman,
I'm about to be the very proud new owner of this beautiful guitar. I noticed in the previous sale thread, Mr. Steiner chimed in about this guitar and its tone. You're name was mentioned. I messaged Mr. Steiner and haven't heard back, maybe he'll speak up in here. I'd love to know whatever I can either here or privately!
