I think that it comes out to $285 US. Not too bad a price, but the originals don't seem to sell for much more than that. _________________ "it's not in bad taste, if it's funny." - john waters |

Nice job on the demo by Fats. Wonder who is doing the voice over. Sounds a little like Terry Herd, host of the syndicated "Into the Blue". _________________ LeGrande II, Nash. 112, Fender Twin Tone Master, Session 400, Harlow Dobro, R.Q.Jones Dobro |

It will be interesting to see how much they screw us in the UK price wise, as everything is loaded when it lands here.

For that price we have to wonder about the quality of the wood, pickup etc. Cool look and design though and great to see people taking a chance on putting a reasonably-priced new lap steel out there. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

Generally, they seem to just change the $ to a £ so if $250, probably around £250 over here (if anyone even bothers to import them). I had to special order my Epiphone Mandobird mandolin. |

Such is the case with with cheap offshore instruments. Too often the focus is building to a price point with quality being a secondary thought. Certainly some are better than others, and it is encouraging to see a new steel on the market.
That said, Epiphone in general does pretty well in the cheap instrument market space. The basics of the steel look promising. It has an acceptable scale length, the string spacing looks decent, and the string height does not appear to be too low. I like the fact that they made old school knobs for it and the reproduction headstock logo is a nice touch too. My best guess is that its probably going to be ok out of the box and possibly worth some upgrades. _________________ Some misc pics of my hand crafted steels

I like the sound in the clip. Is it the pickup or the amp?

I have one on pre-order...looks pretty sweet. I would like to have the tube amp to go with it.
I'll post more info on it here when I get it, if I don't back out by then! _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Peavey 400 and a Roland 40 Amps. Behringer Reverb Pedal.

May be some of both, that is a tube amp and according to the youtube:
Mr. Kaplin played the Century Lap Steel through an Epiphone Century Amplifier with no effects. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Peavey 400 and a Roland 40 Amps. Behringer Reverb Pedal. |
