I recently noticed on the BE web site..a change I didn't have before...he is dropping the 7th string from a F# to an F...using RKL. I called Bruce and ordered the parts..I've got them on..and now, for the life of me..I can't imagine what to use it for. Its doesn't make a chord, and unless he uses it in a run..what is it used for? Anybody else have that change..and how do I use this thing?
Thanks for the help! |

When you are holding in the E- Eb knee, the F# note then is the 5th in the key of B. Flatting it a half tone will give you a flatted-fifth.
I have that change on MY guitar and I could not live without it.

Richard E.,
Notice that the same lever also lowers the 6th string a whole tone. This renders three adjacent strings (6, 7 & in 'chromatic' or half-steps.
Another thing is that when playing string 6 lowered a whole-tone (F#), it will cause the 7th-string (F#) to ring from sympathetic vibration.
Having string 7 something different than an F# when playing string 6 (lowered) will prevent this from happening.

Winnie, and Russ...
Thanks for the "come back" on this. I have been fooling around with the holding of both knees together and it works. I guess I had never used the 7th string with it..only the 6th..thanks..I knew if I asked, somebody out there would shed some light on that change. Thanks; what is so great about this Forum..especially a new player, we can gain a lot of knowledge for those with experience.
Thanks again. Dick |

It's the equivalent of P5 on the C6th. |

Funny, I've been pondering adding this to my guitar.
