No it wasn't a Pedabro. I was channel surfing and came upon a live video of Dierks Bently on CMT.Now I'm not a big fan but his band sounded real good and his gorgeous female bass player with the long blond hair and cowboy hat made me stop and take notice. His steel player was absolutely TEARING it up on a wierd blue mica thing that sat on top of top of the back neck of his Sho Bud pedal steel. I have NO idea what it was. I think the name began with an M. It sounded dead nuts like a dobro and it sat on that Sho Bud like it was made for it. This steel player was playing it at warp speed and clean as a whistle. Pretty cool. It looked like a run of the mill blue mica steel guitar but seemed to be made for sitting on top of a pedal steel guitar. It sounded GREAT!! ... any idea what it was??? bob

My guess would be a Melobar. The also make lap steels that can be played hanging in a strap, and the guit-steel used by Junior Brown.

It was a Marrs RGS, Resonator Guitar Simulator, played by Forum member and Michigan bred steeler, Gary Morse. They are made by Duane Marrs. I think he has some photos of the RGS on his Web page.

If you click on seach, then put Gary Morse under pedal steel, there is a title called Dirks Bentleys steel player. Duane Marrs has a post on the "Cat Can" guitar.
