To try to fill a "hole" in Rickenbacher's bakelite steels history; I have initiated a project trying to figure out why a number of pre-war and war-time eras Ric Bakelites had no serial number (on the tip of their headstock nor anywhere else). That SGF discussion is at:
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=2531619
It appears we (Fo'Bros responding) have established some compelling evidence but not yet nailed down as much as I hope and think we can. For instance, it seemingly appears that there are a disproportionate number of necks without serial numbers for some 1940 era Bakelites; And it appears that post-war Ric Bakelites did not receive serial numbers.
>>>>> If you have or can acquire photos of Bakelite Rics that have 1-1/2" pickup magnets BUT NO SERIAL NUMBER, ...full-length front-&-back photos would be excellent, but any might help, ...could you please post the photos to THE ABOVE LINKED DISCUSSION ...NOT IN THIS NOTICE POSTING.
