This is a 1/4 inch thick rubber pad with a magnetic backing. The top is a washable nylon fabric. When placed on the strings, the pad does not move, thanks to the magnetic backing. It can be moved to the front neck quickly and easily to get it out of the way when you switch from the front neck to the back neck. This just feels so much more comfortable than laying your arm on the strings. It also improves the string life of your back neck by preventing moisture from your skin getting on the strings, which can rust the strings. It is black in color, not a dark gray like the camera captured.
By turning it upside down, it can be used to wipe down your strings. It is also the perfect thing to slide underneath the strings and wipe down the fret board. It easily brushes off or you can wash it.
$5.00 plus $2.00 shipping. PayPal accepted.

I really like this product. Just feels so much better than my arm resting on those bare strings. I cannot lower the price less than $5.00 and pay the shipping. I just sent one out today and the shipping was $2.74. I am just barely coming out even. If I count my labor, I am loosing money.

i took a few of these to the Dallas show and sold them all. Several times when I saw somebody playing a double neck in one of the break out rooms,I had them try the pad on their back neck. 90% bought one. It just feels so much better than the arm laying on bare strings. |

Hi George, great idea, but are you sure the magnetic function doesn't mess with the pickup? |

Brian, good question. I was at the Dallas show and I showed one to Dave Beaty from Telonics and asked him the same question you asked, just to be sure. Dave said not only would it not harm the pickup, but it would actually be good for it. He said the pad would act as a "keeper" which helps magnets stay strong.
I know from experience with other magnets, that it is best to keep a metal washer on them in storage so they do not loose their strength. Also, when I use the pad, I don't keep it directly over the pickup just because of the position I play on the fret board.
Thanks for you asking but I am sure there is no problem. The magnetic rubber on the back of the pad is not very strong to begin with. |

It looks these may be going the same way as Soap on a Rope. I still have 3 left, but apparently there is no demand for them. I wouldn't be without mine. I even have a backup. The pad is just so much more comfortable than resting your hand on the back neck strings and getting sweat on the strings. The pad works wonderfully for wiping dust off the fret boards and wiping the strings down. It will cost me $75.00 to buy the materials to make more, so due to lackluster sales, there is not much hope I will make anymore. |

For those of you asking, yes I will be making some more pads. A couple of people has asked about one the full length of the fret board so that they have in effect, a double neck with a padded back neck. Nice idea, especially if you don't play the back neck a lot. Even if you do, the pad can be instantly removed and laid in your lap. If anybody wants one, they will be $15.00 plus $5.00 shipping.
I have gotten so used to my pad, it just doesn't feel right without it. Just so much more comfortable compared to your arm resting on those old wire strings.
Thanks to all who have purchased a pad and for your favorable comments. |
