Has anyone tried the 65 RI Fender super reverb for pedal steel guitar. It has 40watts, tube driven reverb and 4 jensen 10”.
I have been offered a trade for my seventies silverface deluxe reverb, and I guess I need a amp for my MSA semi classic and tele for gigs..
How is it compared to the 65ri twin reverb?

These are not "reissue" amps. They look like the old ones but the internals are totally different and therefore the sound will be different.
In as much as trading your amp for a RI Super, there are some RI Supers on Ebay for $679. You can always buy the RI amps, but your old original Fender will not be so easy to come by. My vote is to keep the old Fender and just buy a new amp. |

I'm with you there Bill..The new Fender amps are very nice but they are a long way from the older PTP amps like your Deluxe
Reverb amp.I would also suggest keep it & try to go somewhere & try out the new amps.
They do sound different. Some folks like the new sound & some do not.You will not know for sure until you try them out IMHO..Ron |

KEEP THE DELUXE!!
My butt will be sore till I'm in my grave from kicking myself for doing such things.
And in general, Super reverbs aren't too good for steel, unless they are loaded with JBL's. The JBL add a ton of headroom.
With the stock speakers, you'll notice breakup when you dont want it. (Unless you're playing blues & such, where you may want the breakup..)
Twins are better, and for around $700 (street price) you could get the new Steel King!!

You can simply modify that Deluxe to
stay a bit cleaner at a higher volume also.
I did it to my old blackface and it's easily
reversable!
