George L pickups

Hi fellow steelers,

I`m trying to do some upgrades to my 1980 vintage
rig. I`m using the following:
1978-79 Peavy Session 400 w/Black Widow.[It doesn`t
sound as good as I remember -maybe 10 yrs. ago ]
Emmons p-p D10 w/ Emmons pot-type volume pedal.
Original Emmons pickups.

What volume pedal would be a good choice ?
What replacement speaker?
Will a George L pickup be an improvement?
