Was just wondering if anyone has can tell me their favorite tuners to use. I have the stroboplus HD and while I like it, I think I want a needle tuner so I can see the cents. You can't see how many cents you're off unless you set the cents up or down on the Peterson. Maybe I'm just ignorant but it seems the older tubers are easier to use. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot

If you want one with a needle, the Boss TU-12 is hard to beat.

If you have a smartphone and three bucks, I REALLY like Cleartune (and the Peterson adapter for tuning in silence).

If you use one of the pre programmed Steel Guitar tunings you don't need to know how many cents. Its compensated for in the program and you just tune everything so there is no movement in the strobe ("0").

If you don't like the Peterson programs, you can create your own, which works the same way. You program all the offsets you use in your tuning program and then tune everything so there is no movement in the strobe.

My favorites are Korg AT-12 and the newer Seiko ST-800. The Korg can be found on ebay occassionally while the Seiko is available in most guitar stores for around $25....easily fits in a pak seat too.

There is a free app that I really like. It's called Pitchlab Lite. There are a few different screens but the good one is called "dial and strobe". It has the needle dial with cents and also a strobe. In options, you can create custom temperaments and set them. To go to options, you just press on your phone anywhere for a few seconds. To remove the ads, you just use the phone horizontaly. There is also a Pitchlab Pro but it's not as good, just has other options you can pay for. And you can use the Peterson connector for silent tuning as Lane suggested..
