Here's a computer-generated MIDI file for an arrangement I just finished of the evergreen Broadway tune "The Sound of Music." It's based on an amazing 1960s arrangement by the Brazilian jazz/classical guitarist Laurindo Almeida. It's in Open D major 7th tuning for an upcoming book of D tuning arrangements I'm working on. D major 7th is identical to Open D except string #1 is lowered 1/2 step to C#.

Laurindo's playing reminded me how the right arrangement can make a somewhat hackneyed or overplayed tune feel fresh again and remind us how beautiful the melody really was. Here's the first page as well.

I like the Almeida arrangement; the feel is refreshing after too many listenings to the original.
The IV chord (G13-11) (A/G) is lushious, however that's spelled. Everything is better in Portugese. Nice, Andy.

Just noticed that it accidentally repeats. It's only about 2:20 - meant to be one time through.
