I'm real busy, and could probably look it up, but name this steel player: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXae81tcXfU

sounds subdued and a little muffled for buddy, but i'm sure buddy told you of what a nightmare it was working with neil diamond. outrageous dumb ideas, long hours, and then left buddy out of the mix.
and that was live in LA at the time buddy was recording out there.
(red rhodes?)
probably just left off the credits, whoever it was.

The personnel listing for that recording shows three guitarists: Richard Bennett, Danny Nicholson and Emory Gordy, Jr. who is also listed as playing vibes. Back in the day many saw no real distinction between a guitar and a pedal steel.

Richard Bennett is most likely the player. Tours with Knopfler more recently

Thanks guys- Buddy never mentioned about Neil to me. I don't think of Buddy as a complainer. A watcher, though.
I saw/heard Mark when he was touring with Emmylou Harris.
I had recently sold a B6 Prewar to somone on their crew, I can't remember who. That person comped me two tickets for their show in Boston and Lo and behold my ol' B6 was on the stage and Richard played it.
