I'm going to guess (truly just a guess but my ears tell me this too) Hal Rugg. |

My ears also made me think it was more likely Hal Rugg.

I agree with Jerry, that the intro sounds exactly like Lew Houston. But, the solo sounds a lot like Hal Rugg. Maybe Hal copied a demo that had Lew on it?

It's John.
John did all the Conway/Loretta duets.
He signed his name at :013-:014.

That's what John told me too. Sounded like John from the first few notes. The tone sounded more like him than Hal. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Thanks for sharing this great stuff about John Hughey.
I also learned that he did "Bloody Mary Morning" with Willie. I always admired the solo at 1:15 in the following video:

Must be a special pedal involved on the Porter Wagner show Working Girl. Both feet together at volume pedal side. |
