I've been on the lookout for a vintage NP steel guitar for a couple of years. This week I came across a for sale mint Guyatone double neck guitar that was within driving distance from me (Manitoba Canada). I couldn't even find any finger prints on it, it was so nice. Needless to say I am now the happy owner of this instrument. I put new strings on both necks (C6th & E13th) and it sounds wonderful to me. I have the Little Roy Wiggins song book and CD so I shall be very busy learning from it this coming winter. Right now it is fishing season for me.

I wonder what the logic was behind having a neck with two pickups and the other with just one pickup?

Gibson used three legs on the early model Console Grandes but the configuration was different, two on the right and one on the left.

Doug, thanks for the link to the mother of all Guyatone threads. I hadn't seen that before.
About two weeks prior to finding my mint Guyatone I purchased an earlier version locally. It had a bit of hanger rash on it and also a liberal coating of cigarette residue. It sounded very good and it cleaned up quite nicely with some naptha and a little elbow grease. Now I have one for go and the other for show.

Nice finds there, Dennis! Goldfoil type pickups on the brown one. I hope you're doing as well fishing as you are in finding cool steel guitars! |
