Ok, I bit the bullet and am starting my learning of the C6 neck. I have Jeff Newmans tuning chart in Hertz but not Cents. I'm enclosing a chart of my E9 neck with the notes of the open strings and their octaves in Cents. The chart was done 8 yrs ago and I may have altered it some since then but you can see what I'm trying to accomplish. What I need is a tuning chart for the C6 with the open strings and their octave in cents. Can someone provide me with one or point me to a location that has that? Also if you chime strings to get in tune, please advise on that also.

Thank you,
Larry

10 STRING:

Octave Cents
1. F# 4 +20
2. D# 4 -10
3. G# 4 -25
4. E 4 +10
5. B 3 +10
6. G# 3 -25
7. F# 3 +15
8. E 3 +5
9. D 3 +5
10. B 2 +10

Larry,

That information is on Jeff Newman's site:
wwww.jeffran.com

The site explains converting Hertz to Cents.
1 Hertz = 4 cents. Not an exact science but it will get you very close.

Best Wishes
Tony

I'm using meantone on my C6th, centered on the D note. This chart shows the concept (not in string order) as you go around the circle of 5ths:

note cents
Eb +12.5
Bb +10
F +7.5
C +5
G +2.5
D 0
A -2.5
E -5
B -7.5
F# -10
C# -12.5
So, the open strings are tuned like this:

note cents
D 0
E -5
C +5
A -2.5
G +2.5
E -5
C +5
A -2.5
F +7.5
C +5
Meantone seems to work well for the music I've been playing (country, swing, rock, blues), but it might break down if you're doing a lot of 12-tone music or complex jazz chords. For that, I recommend tuning everything to 0 on the meter.
