Just changed strings on a guitar that I haven't used for awhile, and I forgot the procedure.
Basically, I have D going to C# on the 9th string, D# going to D (half-stop) then C# on the 2nd string.
Am i correct thinking that the hex nut on the 9th string controls the half stop on the 2nd string, and it'd the screw in the changer that tunes the 9th string lower? Can't remember in what order these need to be tuned... |

Here's how I do it on my Mullen:
1. Tune 2nd string open to Eb
2. Hit knee lever all the way to stop, then tune to Db
3. Hit knee lever to HALF STOP & tune to D using the 9th string hex.
My Emmons has a half-stop adjuster; dunno why all manufacturers don't do this. _________________ A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag. |

But then, how do you tune the 9th string lower? |

Tune 2 and 9 to Eb and D at the keyhead. Activate the lever, tune 2 to C# with the tuning nut, tune 9 a little lower than C# with the tuning nut. With the lever activated, use the screw on 9 to bring it back to C#. Tune the half stop on 2 by adjusting the tuning nut on 9. |

You use the split tuning srew on the 9th string to tune that change. _________________ ----------------------------------
